If there is a pandemic problem affecting many children in the modern society then it is obesity. Cases of childhood obesity have been on the rampant rise for the past few decades. As compared to the days of our grandparents, the 21st century is leading in the number of cases of childhood obesity. There many factors that that have lead to this unwanted situation. Top on the list are lifestyle and feeding habit. The modern child is known to live a very sedentary lifestyle, simply watching TV shows or video games during the whole. In addition, the modern child is maintained on junky diets that promote rapid weight gain.
We are living in a fast paced modern life. Our children are not left aside. There is lack of regular body exercise and the children are fed on poor and inconvenience diet. All these lead to increased cases of childhood obesity. Long time ago, obesity was only meant to be a disease affecting only adults. During the times of our grandparents, it was rare to find a chide suffering from obesity. However, the situation has changed and the perception that obesity is an old age disease is rapidly fading away.
Despite its rapid increase for the past few decades alone, still there are hopes of curbing childhood obesity. To effectively eliminate cases of childhood obesity, experts advocate for comprehensive change in lifestyle and feeding habit. It is suggested that these are the primary factors that are greatly contributing to childhood obesity. Children should be engaged in more physical activities and avoid sedentary lifestyle.
