Silicone is a very important material that has wide application in the modern society. At home, this material is used to make a wide range of important devices. Several industries such as medicine, manufacturing, moulding, product reproduction, and engineering also highly depends on this material. Silicone has this wide application in various industries due to its important natural properties. Silicon is considered to be the material with most wide application in the modern society. Tubing and moulding industries are some of the greatest beneficiary of this important material.
One of the most important natural properties of silicone is its good electrical insulation. This property actually makes it very suitable for use in electrical devices. Besides good electrical insulation, this material is a good and stable thermal and electrical conductor. Other important properties of silicone related to this include high resistance to UV light, oxygen, and ozone. This actually makes it highly durable and not affected even if exposed to these harsh conditions. In addition, silicone has high resistance to growth of microbiological organisms.
Besides what has been discussed above, silicone has other natural properties that make it suitable for various applications. In the medical industry, this material is becoming very popular for making various medical devices such as feeding tubes due to its biocompatibility. The excellent biocompatibility property has made it a suitable material as compared to other thermoplastics. Silicone is also highly preferred for tubing due to its low toxicity, physiological inertness, hypoallergenicity, and low occurrence of extractable and leachable. |

I work as a roofer, way up high - sometimes up to 20 metres off the ground. On a roof, I'm a different person to when I'm on the ground. I'm almost cat-like on the roof - wide-eyed, focused, alert. Working for a uk roofing contractors means I'm well versed in height safety. I know how to use my fall arrest equipment, and I know how to do first aid in case I need to attend to an accident. Luckily, the worst kinds of accidents I've seen have been very minor - and that's really down to our own training and vigilance on the job. We don't tolerate anything less than 100% professionalism on the job. You need to be in shape to do my kind of work, and so we do look after ourselves and ensure we have clear heads before we start any day. Safety is first and foremost. |
