When to Make an Accident Claim

It is always tempting to make a personal injury claim as soon as possible after your injury. It is nice to find an accident claim company and then leave them to get on with sorting everything out. However, it may be a bit too soon to do so.
It is worth remembering that the compensation that you get will depend on the severity of your injury. If you are not completely healed when you make the claim, then you will not be able to claim for everything you are owed because the judge will not know how much longer the injury will last.
You can also claim for costs in the court case. This means that you can get the money back for anything that you have had to buy as a result of being injured such as prescriptions or transport to hospital. This might even cover the cost of private medical costs, if the treatment that you need is not available on the NHS. If you have lost any salary as a result of being off work due to your injury, you can also claim this.
Again, if you are not fully better, then you may not be able to claim for all of the costs. There may be other costs that build up and so if you claim too early, you may find that you are left short of money. This is not good and you will not be able to claim again at a later date because once you have had the court case, that is it.
It is therefore better to wait until you have recovered from your injures before you make a compensation claim. Try not to let a solicitor rush you too much because they want to be paid as quickly as possible. You want to make sure that you can get everything that you entitled to.
Just bear in mind that you get only three years to make a compensation claim and so you do not want to miss out completely.
